In the next 10 years, the Department of Labor anticipates that job growth in the plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical fields will expand by 20 percent. Along with this expected job growth comes anticipated salary increases in the industry, putting plumbers, electricians and HVAC technicians in a secure position to take advantage of great opportunities now and in the years to come.
But even with this overwhelmingly positive industry outlook, only about six percent of high school students consider a career in the trades. As a result, for every three skilled workers that are leaving the workforce, only one is entering in their place.
All of this, combined with the 60 percent turnover expected to occur in the PHCE industry in the next 10 years, makes it a great time to be entering into the plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical fields.
Students can even start working, and earning money, while they train.
Education costs are low, and scholarships are available.
